John B. (Jack) Shinnock

Board of Trustees - President

Jack Shinnock was appointed to the Board in November 2009 to fill an unexpired term of five years. Jack brings to the Board 30 years of legal experience, having taken early retirement in 2002 as Associate General Counsel with American Electric Power. Jack was responsible for litigation in seven states, handling cases on public liability and breach of contract. He also served as Chief Counsel for energy delivery, providing legal service to customer operations, transmission and distribution business units. Jack remains licensed to practice law in Ohio and New York.

Jack has been of service to Westerville by volunteering as a member of the Traffic Commission and then on the Board of Zoning Appeals, which he also chaired. He currently serves on the Board of the Westerville Senior Center.

Since restructuring his life, Jack developed a second career as a scuba diving instructor and learned to play golf. He enjoys travel, especially to National Parks (he has visited 42 of the 58 parks), as well as hiking and kayaking.

Jack views the Library as an incredible asset to the community and more important today than ever before.
